Police to work eight-hour shifts

Operations DIG says police distributed more than 10,000 surgical masks, gloves to people

ISLAMABAD: Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Aamir Zuliqar on Monday reviewed the progress on awareness campaigns launched by the capital police to combat coronavirus (Covid-19) and appreciated the morale of the force in this critical hour.

In a meeting held here at Central Police Office, he said that Islamabad police is standing shoulder by shoulder with citizens and making the best possible efforts to secure the lives of people through implementation on government directions.

The meeting was attended among others by all DIGs, SSPs, AIGs, Zonal SPs and SDPOs.

Operations DIG Waqaruddin Syed said police distributed more than 10,000 surgical masks and gloves among people who were also imparted awareness about preventive measures against Covid-19.

DIG Syed said that masks, gloves and sanitisers should be distributed among policemen performing duties at police stations, pickets and mobile units. Duties of policemen should not exceed eight hours who are on the frontline in accomplishing this challenging task.
