The mayor added that they will ensure that cleanliness is maintained at all costs during the lockdown in the wake of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

He added that in the first phase, commercial centres in Islamabad are being washed with chlorinated water and later they are sprayed with disinfectants.

He noted that IMC has completed spraying activity in sectors G-6, G-7, G-9, G-11, I-9 and I-10 to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The directors of IMC sanitation and water supply departments were overseeing the cleanliness operation, Aziz added.

IMC Deputy Mayor Zeeshan Ali Naqvi recalled that they were the first to launch an awareness campaign against the coronavirus pandemic at the union council (UC) level in the country wherein they distributed pamphlets inscribed with precautionary measures.

He added that the cleanliness operation was extremely important to control the coronavirus.
