QUETTA: Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan chief Abdul Haq Hashmi on Saturday drew attention of the provincial government to the hike in prices of various commodities of daily use available  at local vendors.

He also said utility stores’ shelves were empty of edible items in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak across the province.

“Lockdown is implemented across the country due to the rapid increase in cases of deadly contagion but profiteers have deliberately increased prices of edible items causing artificial inflation across Balochistan,” said Haq in a statement. He expressed concern over blatant violation of the provincial government’s price control  list.

Quoting the figures of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country which have surpassed 1,500, the JI provincial leader slammed the federal government over its failure in handling the coronavirus cases and taking measures to curb the spread of the virus across the country.
