KARACHI: A man accused of strangling his grandmother was handed over to the police on physical remand for two days after confessing to the crime before a local court on Saturday.

The police had arrested the man, Haris, for killing his maternal grandmother during a raid conducted in Mominabad, Orangi Town, on Friday. His accomplice was also apprehended.

According to the police, Haris had killed his grandmother, 80-year-old Jamila Begum, with the help of his friend Tanvir on Tuesday. They had allegedly strangled the woman when she tried to stop them from stealing property documents.

West judicial magistrate Asif Ali Abbasi heard the case at the city court, where the police presented the two accused. Haris confessed to his crime before the court, after which the court handed him over to the police on a two-day physical remand.
