Pesticide, seed, fertiliser shops open in lockdown

Sindh agriculture minister says if the agricultural supply is hindered, the country will face a new crisis

KARACHI: Pesticide, seeds and fertiliser outlets are to be exempted from the lockdown by the Sindh government, stated Sindh Agriculture Minister Ismail Rahoo in a statement on Friday.

He maintained that these vendors would be allowed to operate according to the timings announced by the government. While the shops will remain open, this facility would only be available for registered sellers.

Rahoo stated that the decision was made keeping in mind the concerns of the farming community. He added that the Kharif crop season was about to begin and to ensure that the agricultural supply chain continues to run, these retailers must remain open so that cotton and rice crops may be grown. He added that if the agricultural supply was hindered, the country would face a new crisis.
