Responsibility is key

Realising and fulfilling one’s responsibility is the need of the hour in these testing times

HYDERABAD: The coronavirus, also being called COVID-19, has caused fear and panic across the globe. Although its incidence has subsided in Wuhan, China, where the outbreak originated, cases are on rise in other countries.

In Pakistan, health authorities have reported 9 deaths from the virus, while the number of confirmed cases has surpassed 1,100. Though the authorities are making efforts to curb the spread of the virus, loopholes still remain that need to be fixed.

Undoubtedly, the way China managed to control the pandemic deserves appreciation. Chinese institutions worked together and made strenuous efforts to save lives. The Chinese people supported their government by obeying orders and this paid off. The case of China should be the lesson for our countries to follow. All of us will have to show our responsibility in order to overcome the novel virus. The federal and provincial governments need to cooperate and come up with a unified mechanism to control the further spread of COVID-19. It is the civic responsibility of all citizens of our country to show support for the authorities and obey instructions rather than panicking or spreading fake news.

Realising and fulfilling one’s responsibility is the need of the hour in these testing times. The sooner we understand this, the better we will be able to combat this threat.
