KARACHI: Former provincial health minister Dr Junaid Ali Shah has appealed to those associated with the field of medicine to step up and play their part to overcome the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

"This is not the time to stay at home or hide," said Dr Shah, adding that he too was present in the field and urging his fellow medical professionals to join him.

He pointed out that doctors, nurses, and paramedics were needed at the newly-established quarantine facility at the Expo Centre in Karachi.

According to Shah, the government was making all the necessary efforts to curb the outbreak of the contagious virus, but they could not be fruitful without the contribution of healthcare workers.

"A soldier does not think before going to war; similarly, the medical staff have no option other than serving humanity," he said. "It is time to serve people and to perform your professional responsibilities."

At the same time, he urged citizens to remain at home, calling it the only way to curtail the spread of coronavirus.
