ISLAMABAD: To ensure maximum safety, the civic agencies of the federal capital have decided to wash the markets, quarantine centres and shelter homes with chlorinated water apart from spraying them with disinfectants.

The Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC), Capital Development Authority (CDA) and ICTA will jointly conduct a cleanliness operation in the city. IMC Mayor Anser Aziz has called upon the interior ministry to provide the requisite funds for carrying out the operation.

The related officials said that some 30 bowsers along with tractors, trolleys and fire engines will take part in the washing activity.

Guidelines for shopkeepers

A new set of guidelines have been introduced by the Islamabad district administration for shopkeepers in the federal capital.

People coming to buy essentials from grocery stores have to first create a circle outside the shops while maintaining a distance of 1.5 meters from each other. Then, one by one, each person will go inside the stores and buy whatever they want.

According to Islamabad District Commissioner, the sellers are responsible for implementing the new rules.

“Shops of those who violate these rules will be sealed,” he said.
