ATTOCK: The Attock District Jail’s deputy superintendent on Wednesday said that all possible steps have been taken to ensure that the facility is hygienically clean and to control the spread of any infectious disease amongst its inmates.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, he said that the barracks of the prisoners were being washed with antiseptics while the health of all inmates is being closely supervised to detect and remove any infected.

The deputy superintendent added that all prisoners have been briefed about the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) and have been instructed to follow the prescribed standard operating procedures (SOPs) in letter and spirit.

He conceded that the jail was overcrowded and if prisoners involved in petty crimes are shifted to some other location, then the situation could improve.
