According to the police, seven armed men invaded the homes of Muhammad Khan Lashari and others in Muhammad Ayub Lashari village at around 3 am and killed four persons of Lashari's family. Meanwhile, three others sustained bullet wounds. Two of the assailants were also killed in the counter-attack, as the victims' family opened fire on them as they were trying to escape.
Mehrabpur DSP Hameed Panhwar later shifted bodies, and took the injured into police protection.
The police have identified the slain persons as 52-year-old Muhammad Khan Lashari, his son, 24-year-old Zameer Hussain Lashari, 50-year-old Muhammad Bachal Lashari and 20-year-old Shamshad Ali Lashari. Muhammad Khan's son Sajid Ali, brother Muhammad Ali Lashari and his son Allah Warayo sustained wounds and were shifted to Peoples Medical University Hospital in Nawabshah.
Assailants Allah Rakhyo Mojai and Gamanr Khan Lashari also lost their lives in the attack.
According to Panhwar, police have seized the mobile phones of the two assailants and will use geo-fencing to trace the other attackers.
Reportedly, a woman belonging to the family of the attackers had eloped with a man from Muhammad Ayub Lashari's family, leading to a dispute between the two families. The former demanded that the woman and Lashari should be handed over to them but the latter refused. The two sides, reportedly, had held several rounds of negotiations before the incident took place.
