Police hold flag march to ensure Section 144 enforcement
183 cases registered, more than 200 violators arrested
FAISALABAD: A police flag march was held in various city highways to ensure enforcement of Section 144 in the wake of the threat of the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, police along with district administration arrested more than 200 violators and registered cases against them. Five towns of district police registered 183 cases against civilians in the last 24 hours.
The purpose of holding the flag march was to enforce Section 144 during the ongoing crisis and to make clear that legal action will be taken against violators. Moreover, the police flag march demonstrated power of the different police forces which were prepared to ensure the implementation of Section 144.
District police, Elite Force and Dolphin Squad teams participated in the flag march.
Police officials said that strict legal action would be taken against those who violated Section 144. The flag march started from Police Lines and covered the areas including Ghanta Ghar Chowk, Eidgah Road, Satyana Road, Jaranwala and different highways of the city. The flag march returned to Police Lines.
Faisalabad police along with district administration registered the cases against violators in various police stations in the areas where the accused violated Section 144.
CPO Sohail Chaudhry told The Express Tribune that Lyallpur Town police registered 24 cases and arrested 27 accused.
Madina Town Division police registered 12 cases and arrested 15 suspects. Iqbal Town Division police arrested 56 accused and registered 52 cases.
Jaranwala Division police arrested 48 accused after registering 48 cases. Saddar Division police registered 47 cases and arrested 47 accused. Police officials added that any citizens or shopkeeper who violates Section 144, till April 6, will be dealt with strict action.
