ISLAMABAD: The traders’ community of the federal capital has demanded that the government enforce a complete lockdown to contain COVID-19.

All Pakistan Anjuman Tajiran President Ajmal Baloch said that the government should announce a complete lockdown for two weeks in Islamabad, as has been done in other parts of the country.

He conceded that prevention was the only cure against the contagious virus, adding that the government should not delay the imposition of the lockdown.

In Rawalpindi, the city and cantonment areas also wore a deserted look as all markets remained shut for a second consecutive day.

Traffic on the roads was thin, while locals preferred to stay at home and avoided venturing outside.

Barring pharmacies, grocers, meat, poultry and milk shops all other shops and offices were closed.
