‘All options on the table to control COVID-19’

The chief minister went on to term the role of health workers as critical in fighting the coronavirus

PESHAWAR: The provincial government is mulling all possible options to curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and is ready to take any drastic measure to save lives.

This was stated by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Monday while presiding over a meeting of the Provincial Task Force on COVID-19 on Monday.

Mahmood, who is leading the task force, said, “The overall situation (in the province) is in control at the moment and if the need arises, the provincial government will take all those measures which will be required to save the lives of our people”.

The chief minister went on to term the role of health workers as critical in fighting the coronavirus and directed the relevant authorities to take all possible measures to protect these frontline workers, including the provision of personal protection equipment (PPE).

During the meeting, the chief minister was briefed by the health and relief departments about the latest situation with regards to COVID-19 in the province and the arrangements made to control the disease. A briefing about the expected scenario in the coming days and the preparedness level of various departments of the provincial government to effectively deal with any expected situation was also given.
