On the instructions of SHC Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh, the registrar released a circular, stating that the SHC and district and sessions courts would only attend to criminal cases and bail petitions until further notice.

As a result, civil cases pending at the SHC’s principal seat in Karachi as well as in Sukkur, Hyderabad and Larkana have been delisted, while such cases will not be heard at district courts either.

The circular goes on to state that all female staff and employees over the age of 50 have been directed to stay at home. Court staff, over the age of 50, including those working in the banking court, will be exempt from attendance but will remain on call.

Meanwhile, judges, chairpersons and the heads of district and special courts will be available at the offices.
