Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday urged that sanctions imposed on Iran must be lifted so that the country can fight the deadly pandemic that has claimed more than 1,000 lives in the Islamic Republic.

“The entire global community is fighting an unprecedented pandemic. We must, as leaders at time of such great challenge and difficulty, show utmost compassion,” FM said in a tweet. “Sanctions must be lifted against Iran, in this moment of peril so that it can use its resources to save precious human lives.”

‘COVID-19 kills 1 Iranian every 10 minutes'

Jafreen | 4 years ago | Reply We should not get in the middle of Iran/USA dispute - there is zero upside. . Also - what do sanctions have to do with Iranian pandemic? USA has never sanctioned food or medicine. USA doesn't control Iran's decisions concerning open borders, keeping mosque and shrines open, allowing pilgrimages, lack of school closures or isolation procedures. All those decisions were made by Iran's ruling Imam's who seem to be clueless.
