The “Links to Learning: Education Support to Pakistan” (ED-LINKS) project has assisted more than 450,000 students in more than 700 schools in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
To mark the completion of the three-year program, US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter Tuesday joined hands with officials and residents of Fata and Malakand, said a press release issued by United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which funded the programme.
“Our shared efforts to improve education in K-P and Fata are a symbol of Pakistani and US friendship. More importantly, our work will build a better tomorrow for future generations of Pakistanis,” said Ambassador Munter.
Students from six districts of Malakand and 13 regions and agencies of Fata benefited from the project. The project helped train over 3,000 teachers, while supporting teacher training institutes and teaching children in camps for internally displaced persons.
K-P Education Minister Sardar Hussain Babak said, “There could be no better way to help Pashtuns then to help our children get a better education.”
