Two children, brother and sister, were shot dead while four others including a little girl received bullet wounds when a man sprayed bullets at a jirga in the jurisdiction of Ghazi Police Station here on Monday. The motive behind double murder was a minor dispute between the children of two families, who were reported to be close relatives.
Police and eyewitnesses said that the children of Ali Akbar and Muhammad Afsar, all from Chinarkot village, quarreled while playing in the street, leading to a jirga being called to reconcile the two families. While the matter was being discussed, Muhammad Afsar got infuriated and opened fire at the jirga members, killing Ali Akbar’s children Muhammad Ilyas, 14, Robina Bibi, 12, on the spot, while four others including seven-year-old Nagina Bibi, a sister of the deceased, Haji Sher Afzal, Ghulam Fareed and Muhammad Hussain were seriously injured.
The accused is still at large.
