Pakistan number one player Aamir Atlas cruised into the quarter-finals of Sportsmax Open, thrashing England’s Robbie Temple 11-9, 11-8, 11-9 in the first-round battle taking place in Cairo.
Atlas, who featured in two finals in as many months at Kuwait Open and Malaysian Open, continued his impressive form to complete the win in just 43 minutes. “I am working hard to improve my world ranking,” Atlas, who is currently ranked 28th in the world, told The Express Tribune. “I am eyeing a title in Egypt and winning that will help a lot in achieving my aim.” Atlas will now take on local qualifier Marwan El Shorbagy for a place in the last-four.
