Khursheed Shah challenges NAB orders in IHC

Petition pleads that the anti-graft buster’s orders for joint investigation team be declared null and void

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah has challenged the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) orders in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for the formation of a joint investigation team in the assets beyond means case.

Shah filed a petition through his counsel Raza Rabbani and Saleem Ansari and made the anti-graft buster’s chairman and DG NAB Multan respondent in the case.

The petition stated that Shah was a law-abiding and peace-loving citizen and had been engaged in politics.

It said that he had been an elected member of provincial as well as national assembly beside local bodies and also held the portfolio of a minister.

It further said that in 2001 and 2002 NAB Sindh had conducted an inquiry against him in the said case and now the anti-corruption watchdog had once again issued the orders for the formation of a joint investigation team.

The plea said that NAB had constituted a team comprising representatives of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and had completed investigation in the case.

The petition pleaded that NAB notification of joint investigation team be declared null and void.
