Jennifer Lopez shares advice on how to stay successful at any age

Wise words from a wise woman

Entertainment Desk March 17, 2020
Amid all the depressing news coming in from the world with a pandemic raging across the globe, Jennifer Lopez has some wise words for us.

In a recent interview - over the phone, of course - with Elle magazine, JLo opened up about how she's holding up with the coronavirus lock down to her secret of how to stay successful past 50.

"I'll tell you what I wish I'd known about being 50 when I was younger: It’s not over. When I was in my 20's, I don’t know what I thought about being 50 except that it was basically just the end," she shared.

Then how did she manage to stay as fit and on-top-of-her-game as she has all these years? That's a conversation she didn't hesitate to have. For the now 50-year-old superstar, age is but a number, and she's all about breaking the glass ceiling that tells women they can't excel past a certain age.

"I have so much experience now. I have the knowledge that, if I use it, is a huge advantage. The narrative women are told is that you’re kind of put out to pasture at a certain age. And what I’ve found is that it’s the total opposite."

"Stop asking, 'Will I look like that?' and just ask, 'What do I want to do next?' Because you can make it happen, you know? And nobody ever told me that," she shared.

Closing her valuable lesson, the singer added, "If you keep working hard and pushing yourself, you can be better as a person physically, mentally, emotionally."

In case you were wondering what social isolation is like for a global superstar, JLo also opened up about her experience dealing with a pandemic outbreak. "This situation, if we’re lucky enough to be healthy and home, is a real reset button for so many of us," she said.

"Nobody wanted this to happen, but if it has to be this way, you can take advantage of the time and work to get better. But do that work from home," she urged, and that is one advice that everyone should get behind in time.

She also shared how she's making the most of her free time bonding with her kids. "Even my kids are working from home and they're 12. To me, there's no greater luxury than getting to spend real time with my kids."

"This is such a difficult time for everybody. There are so many people who are sick. We just want to contain it and work from home."
