Burying the Hatchet: Altaf urges calm for country’s sake

KARACHI: Chief of the Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain urged his party workers on Monday to “forget the acrimonies of the past for the sake of national security” and protecting the lives of innocent people and stability in Karachi. Presiding over a coordination committee meeting, Altaf Hussain said that Pakistan’s armed forces and defence institutions “are facing very difficult situation because of the change in the attitude of international powers. He made a passionate appeal to the leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Awami National Party (ANP) to calm their supporters, besides urging his own party workers to show restraint. He urged the print and electronic media to desist from holding incendiary talk-shows and publishing provocative reports and called for refraining from adding fuel to the fire.
