Kumail Nanjiani says he channeled Hrithik Roshan for 'The Eternals'

The 'Krrish' actor became Kumail's superhero inspiration

Pakistani-American comedian Kumail Nanjiani made quite the waves on social media when he revealed his newly-ripped bod for Marvel's The Eternals. 

Turns out, his one and only inspiration for the look was Hrithik Roshan.

Talking to Men’s Health, Kumail revealed what drove him to put in the work to look a certain way for the coveted role. "I went to my trainer and said, ‘I want to look like this guy’," he said - 'this guy' being Hrithik, of course.

All that didn't come easy to him though. He also shared how working towards this specific goal led him to develop body dysmorphia - a mental condition where a person worries too much about flaws in their appearance..

“I don’t want to discount people who genuinely have debilitating body issues. I don’t have that. But I did start getting some body dysmorphia. I’d look in the mirror and I’d see my abs and when I looked again, they would fade. I would just see the flaws,” he explained.

Kumail revealed his sharp new physique on Instagram back in December, and the reaction surprised him, he said. "When I saw that reaction was when I was like, ‘Okay, I clearly don’t see what’s actually there.’"

He seems to have come a long way from that mindset though. "It’s something that I’m trying to be aware of and be better at, because that’s not a good way to be. You want to be easy on yourself," said Kumail.

Kumail is all set to essay the role of Kingo in Marvel's The Eternals - a cosmic powered being who doubles as a Bollywood star in present day. The film will hit theatres on November 6.
