‘We are the problem’ (III)

June 16, 2010

KARACHI: George Fulton’s article made me think about Pakistan’s image problem. Living overseas for a couple of years gave me the opportunity to understand why Pakistan has an image problem. The voice of people who promote Pakistan’s soft image will continue to drown under the cacophony of naysayers till our own leaders and media pull their act together. Pakistan’s negative image is because of our own misplaced priorities. I feel that the energies of the members of religious parties would be better utilised, if instead of protesting against Facebook, they take the government to task about its failures to stop target killings in Karachi or hold it accountable for its inadequate response to the recent natural disasters in Hunza.
