Chairing a meeting at the Central Police Office, he also instructed the relevant DIGs and SSPs to monitor the investigation and interrogation of cases pertaining to the killings of police officials and ensure that those responsible for were taken to task. In addition, the IGP stressed the need to improve the anti-crime strategy and patrolling plan.
Directing officials to crack down on absconders and fleeing suspects, he also instructed them to conduct raids at the residences of persons providing patronage to such criminals and put them behind bars.
Mahar said that the police's focus should be on resolving public issues, adding that prompt and effective action should be taken on grievances registered at complaint centres. He directed the officials to also set aside time to interact with the public so that they could be assured that measures were being taken to resolve their issues.
