Covid-19: Sukkur DC to submit report on isolation wards
Petitioner fears Labour Colony residents are at risk of contracting coronavirus
SUKKUR: The Sindh High Court's (SHC) Sukkur circuit bench directed the Sukkur deputy commissioner (DC) on Wednesday to submit a report regarding the risk of coronavirus to residents near the proposed isolation wards site near Labour Colony.
A bench, comprising Justice Rashid Ahmed Soomro and Justice Amjad Ali Sahito, was hearing a petition filed by Maulana Shahzado Deho, where Sindh Health Department director-general Mubeen Ahmed Memon, Sukkur DC Rana Adeel, Civil Hospital Sukkur medical superintendent Dr Taslim Akhtar Khamisani and Sukkur district health officer Dr Munir Ahmed Manghrio appeared before the court.
The petitioner informed the court that suspected coronavirus patients were being kept in isolation wards set up at Labour Colony, adding that there was a risk that area residents could be exposed to the virus and be infected by it.
The SHC ordered Adeel to submit a report on the issue, and also gave directives to set up a committee, led by additional prosecutor Advocate Shafi Muhammad Chandio. The committee is to visit the proposed area and submit a report within two days.
