According to a report released by the department, the action was taken following multiple complaints of the misappropriation of the development funds.
Reportedly, Rs138 million was released between 2015 and 2019 for carrying out development work in the colony but not a single penny of this amount was spent for the said purpose and the funds were embezzled by the officials of Provincial Building Division Works, Karachi. Officials accused of the corruption include chief engineer Akhtar Ali Dauch, superintendent engineer Arshad Ali Bhutto, assistant engineer Muhammad Aqeel, accountant clerk Akhtar Chaudhry and contractor Tariq Azad, among others.
Speaking in this regard, Dharejo said that no official found involved in the corruption would be spared and that efforts were being made to eliminate corruption at all levels.
