FIR registered for disrupting Aurat March

ISLAMABAD: The federal police force registered a first information report (FIR) against the workers of a religious party for disrupting the Aurat March taken out in Islamabad on International Women’s Day, stoking public sentiments, hate speech and hurling threats.

The case has been registered in the Kohsar police station, the police spokesperson said, adding that the case has been registered under Magistrate City Circle Ghulam Mustafa Chandio against 400 people including 11 leaders of a religious party.

The FIR stated that the suspects violated section 144, intervened in state affairs and shoved the policemen on duties. It further stated that the suspects hurt the sentiments of women on International Women’s Day. The other charges in the report include blocking public thoroughfare, use of loudspeakers despite a ban and inciting hatred based on religious grounds.
