The Bethlehem authorities have shut down the entire district and prepared a specialized quarantine hospital to deal with the coronavirus disease.

More than 2,000 Palestinians are currently placed in quarantine in the cities of Bethlehem and Jericho.

In February, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Ishtaye lauded the strict measures China has taken to fight the COVID-19.

"With a high sense of responsibility and with strict measures, China is dealing with the epidemic to protect all humanity from a fatal epidemic that is threatening the lives of people in the world," he said.
