KARACHI: A plea seeking military assistance for the restoration of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) and removal of encroachments from its path was filed in Supreme Court's Karachi registry on Saturday.

The petitioner asked in the plea that the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) be assigned the removal of encroachments for the restoration of KCR, adding that the Army Welfare Trust may also be approached for the purpose.

He credited the Rangers for maintaining peace and security in Karachi and moved the court to authorise the military to deal with mafias and put an end to illegal occupation of land in the city.
