Post backlash: Quratulain Balouch explains who counts as a 'real feminist'

The singer had initially said a 'real feminist doesn't shout for her rights'

Popular vocalist Quratulain Balouch recently came under fire for her controversial tweet on feminism. The Humsafar singer claimed that "Real feminist gets down to work and wastes no time shouting for her 'rights'."

This led to an immediate backlash on social media where people pointed out that both her politics and statement was misplaced.  That she had written those words without keeping in mind the 'women who would not be allowed to work in the first place,' or the 'women who had shouted for the rights she enjoys today.'

Following the criticism, Balouch took to social media on Thursday night and listed a number of women who she referred to while writing her previous tweet.

She said, "This one was for my Mom, my step mom, Shamim Akhtar, Anisa khan, Zahida Qazmi, Yasmeen Kanwal, Malala Yousafzai, Hajra Khan, women in armed forces and so many likes of these tenacious women who work everyday towards what they believe in."

Balouch added, "Then the universe conspires the best plan."

However, QB did not elaborate on her views about the Aurat March,  which has prompted a number similar debates on social media, in the week leading to the International Women's Day.
