MULTAN: Due to the district administration's negligence, the city's only General Bus Stand has reached the brink of collapse.

The building is decaying and despite an amount of Rs60 million available for the General Bus Stand, the money could not be used for renovation work. Drainage issues after rain are also becoming a problem in the district.

Due to a lack of facilities, citizens have started using private bus stations. Reportedly, there is not enough space for sitting and waiting. Drinking water is not available, the sanitation system is poor and the washrooms are in bad condition.

Due to the district administration’s negligence and lack of facilities, the General Bus Stand of the city has become dormant. The authorities decided several times during various meetings to begin renovation of the bus stand, but the work has not started despite the availability of funds.

Sources said there are more than Rs60 million available in the account of General Bus Stand which is not being used for construction work.

“There is no drinking water available at the stand, no seating area and washrooms are in a terrible condition, which is causing acute problems for the passengers.”

Citizens have now turned to private bus stands due to the lack of facilities. Drainage after heaving rains in the district has also become a serious problem. Due to the lack of a drainage system, the problems of traffic in the area have also increased.

Negligence in cleaning the bus stand has also resulted in heaps of garbage at the site.
