District Election Commission draws up cantonment delimitations for Karachi
Elections of cantonment boards were conducted in 2015 and the delimited Cantts were formulated as per the 1998 census

In line with the 2017 census and wards as proposed by Faisal Cantonment Board the District Election Commission East has formulated the delimitation for cantonment. As per the delimitation, 10 wards of various areas falling under district East, district Malir and district Korangi have been set up.
As per the latest consensus, the population of Fasial Cantonment Board is calculated to be around 296,496. However, according to details the management of the District Election Commission has marked the population of ward-I, which includes areas like Malir Halt, T&T Colony, Gulshan-e-Amna, Tariq Bin Ziyad Cooperative Housing Society, Shah Faisal Town, Khosa Goth and Airport administered areas, to be around 29,080. On the other hand, population of ward-II, which comprises of Gulshan-e-Jamal, Askari-IV and areas of COD is estimated to be around 22,166.
Similarly, the population of ward-III, which includes Drigh Road Cantt Baxar, PAF Residential Colony and PAF Falcon Housing Scheme, stands at 32,432. Ward-IV, which comprises of KDA Extension, Naval Housing Schemes and areas surrounding National Stadium, has a population of 40,590.
Similarly, ward-V with a population of 31,033 includes A-Officer Housing Society, Defence Housing Scheme, KDA Scheme No. 1, Central Government Cooperative Society Sector-I, Main Rashid Minhas Road to Millennium Mall and areas of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 19. Ward-VI Gulistan-e-Jauhar I, which has a population of 28,000, includes Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 10, Gulistan-e-Jauhar Billy’s Heights Block A and B, Billy’s Paradise Phase 1 & 2, Block A-20, Latif Cooperative Housing Society Project 2, 712A and areas of Pakistan Railway Housing Society Block 16. Ward-VII which includes areas of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 17 has a population of 24,313 while ward-VIII which has a population of 32,888 comprises of areas of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 18.
Whereas, the population of ward-IX, which includes areas of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 13 and some parts of Block 15, is estimated to be around 29,542 and ward-X which comprises of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 12, some parts of Block-14 and areas of Sindh Baloch Cooperative Housing Society, has a population of 25,713.
The Election Commission has issued a public notice in the said regard, according to which objections on the proposed delimitations will be submitted at the Regional Election Commission Office (President) from Feb 19 to March 04. The delimitation authority will decide on the proposed objections from March 05 to March 19, while the committee will discuss and deliberate on the decisions from March 20 to March 26.The final list of delimitations of the Cantt will be issued on March 27.
