Islamabad mayor inaugurates clean and green campaign  

Vows that the federal capital would be ranked amongst the great cities of the world

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz has vowed to make the federal capital one of the best and cleanest cities in the world through planting trees and maintaining cleanliness.

The mayor was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the clean and green campaign in Islamabad which had been initiated from sector I-9 on Sunday. The programme was organised by the Union Council (UC) sector I-9 Chairman Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan.

The event was attended by the Industrial Area SP Sheikh Zubair, UC Vice Chairman and councilors and several officials from different walks of life.

Aziz said that the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) was running the campaign in Islamabad for the last four years and this year, he added, the drive was being kicked off from sector I-9. He felicitated the UC chairman, adding that he had arranged a great programme for marking start of the campaign.

Aziz said that they would transform Islamabad into a beautiful city with the assistance of all UC chairmen and vowed that the federal capital would be ranked amongst the great cities of the world.
