E-cigarettes and vaping culture

In Pakistan the side effects of e-cigarettes and vaping have never been highlighted on a large scale

ISLAMABAD: E-cigarettes and vaping are the new emerging trends within our society. Moreover, the upper class or the youth are using e-cigar or vape as a symbol of fashion. Its demand has been more popular among teenagers as well as school going kids. Due to its increasing demand they are now available in most cafes and restaurants. At first it was assumed that e-cigarettes were safer but after many researches the result was the opposite and it proved to be just as harmful as cigarettes if not more and it was associated with serious health risks. E-cigarettes can also cause depression, diarrhoea, high blood pressure, increased respiration, irregular or fast heartbeat and sleep disorders because of nicotine. Due to its harsh side effects, many countries have placed restrictions and ban on e-cigarettes and vaping products. Despite these facts, in Pakistan the side effects of e-cigarettes and vaping have never been highlighted on a large scale because of its high market demand and the fact that distributors are making huge amount of money from it. I urge the government and the relevant authorities to impose a ban on these products and create awareness on all platforms in order to save to our young generation from this menace.
