Foreign dignitaries enjoy heli-skiing in Shogran

As many as 60 foreign skiers participated in the week long Heliski expedition

SHOGRAN: As many as 60 foreign skiers participated in the week long Heliski expedition, a joint venture of Afiniti and Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), culminated at Shogran on Saturday.

According to a statement issued by the ISPR, the foreign skiers including foreign dignitaries from different countries were part of the expedition to promote tourism and explore immense potential of the country's snow-clad mountains for adventure sports.

Earlier, on arrival, the group interacted with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the statement said.

The members of the expedition also visited the ISPR Directorate where Director General Babar Iftikhar briefed them about the improved security environment in the country for sports and tourism, the statement said.

The participating members included men and women from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Greece, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, UK and USA.

Princess Beatrice of York, a member of the British royal family, and other prominent European leaders including the former prime minister of Spain Jose Maria Aznar, former Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi and English cricketer David Gower were part of the group of skiers, the statement said.
