PESHAWAR: The opposition and treasury benches in the province have come to loggerheads once again over the release of development funds to provincial assembly lawmakers.

The issuance of development funds was among the demands raised by opposition lawmakers as they staged a vociferous protest during Monday’s session of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly.

A source familiar with the developments told The Express Tribune that the non-provision of uplift funds to the opposition lawmakers with just four months left in the fiscal year is the main reason for the protest by the opposition benches. However, the source said that the provincial government is acutely aware of this and has already formed a committee for rapprochement with the opposition benches.
