WAPDA, British envoy discuss power projects

Wapda completed and commissioned three long-delayed mega hydropower projects

LAHORE: The Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) has been constructing several projects to add water storage and hydel power generation capacities for water, food and energy security of the country, said Wapda Chairman Muzammil Hussain.

During a meeting with British Deputy High Commissioner Mike Nithavrianakis, who called on the chairman, he added that support from friendly countries like the UK is of immense importance for the implementation of these projects.

The two officials also discussed matters relating to water and hydropower sectors in Pakistan and cooperation for implementing Wapda projects during the meeting. The British deputy high commissioner was apprised that Wapda completed and commissioned three long-delayed mega hydropower projects with a cumulative generation capacity of 2,487MW in 2018.
