During the meeting, Lindberg briefed the foreign minister about activities in various fields of the institute, adding that the US Institute of Peace has been involved in research since 1984.
She said the organisation has been playing a pivotal role in research and policymaking with local governments and civil society in Afghanistan, for the past 17 years.
FM Qureshi briefed her about Pakistan’s steps towards peace and stability in the country and lauded the research and policymaking initiatives by the institute.
He also apprised Lindberg about the recent developments by the Indian armed forces in occupied Kashmir.
Vice President of the Company Andrew Welder was also present during the meeting.
The foreign minister also congratulated the Foreign Office officials for the successful visit of Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
He said the successful Afghan refugee conference was an important milestone.
“Hosting Afghan refugees for the past four decades is practical proof of the Pak-Afghan brotherhood.”
He said the successful visits have improved the image of Pakistan.
