Crowd trouble mars PPFL match in Quetta

KARACHI:

Angry fans attacked match officials in Quetta as Afghan FC drew 1-1 against Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) yesterday.

A goalless first half gave way to a goal in the 64 th minute when PAF scored only for Afghan FC’s captain Jadeed Khan to net an important equaliser in the fourth minute of injury time to seal a point for his side.

Both teams bagged a point each but officials and stadium staff struggled due to the lack of security personnel deployed at the venue as Afghan FC fans attacked the referees as soon as the final whistle was blown.

“It was just awful as the angry crowd broke windows and bullied the officials,” match commissioner Mohammad Shafiq told The Express Tribune.

“There were around 5,000 Afghan FC supporters and they let loose after the final whistle. They accused the officials of being unfair.

“There was no security which is why the situation went out of control.”

Meanwhile, in the other matches  PIA crushed PMC Athletico 6-2 and Pakistan Navy convincingly defeated Pakistan Police 2-1.
