Quality education?

The gloomy picture of education in rural areas has put a stigma over the top priorities of education in Pakistan.

KARACHI: The gloomy picture of education in rural areas has put a stigma over the top priorities of education in Pakistan. The deteriorating education system is jeopardising many students’ careers and will continue to do so for many more years. According to reports, 41% of surveyed 5th graders are unable to read a story in Urdu and 45% of them are unable to read sentences in English. Is this the success we have achieved as a nation?

The report issued by Idara-e-Taleem-e-Agahi also pointed out missing facilities, stating that 39% of primary schools in Pakistan do not have potable water facilities, while 41% do not have usable toilets and 56% do not have computer labs.

This is what happens to a country that has a lethargic and corrupt government. One can only pity the poor education system.
