The Sarhad Development Authority (SDA) has decided to establish a state-of-the-art industrial estate in Nowshera district to improve overall business environment for efficient economic activity in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
An official of the SDA told APP on Tuesday that the land for this mega project would be acquired at Rashakai in Nowshera and different proposals for this purpose are underway.
In addition to it, he said, existing industrial estates in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa would also be rehabilitated and modernised under a mega project to eliminate poverty and expedite development.
The SDA will also set up a granite zone in Manshera district to produce skilled manpower to bolster industrialisation, he maintained.
The Sarhad Industrial Development Board (SIDB) will establish new small industrial estates in Peshawar, Abbottabad and Malakand, he further said.
To bolster agro-based industry in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the government has decided to establish ‘Carpet Nagar’ in Chitral district with a vision to develop a cluster for artisans to promote the carpet industry, he added.
About the Khyber-Pakthunkhwa’s budget for the year 2010-11, he said that numerous projects have been included in the Annual Development Plan for promotion of industrial sectors including setting up commerce colleges, up-gradation of existing polytechnic institutes and others to produce skilled manpower to cater to the growing need of industries and overseas employment demand.
