Lahore Police promise stringent security for Kabaddi World Cup

LAHORE: Lahore Police have made stringent security arrangements for the Kabaddi World Cup.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Zulfiqar Hameed visited Punjab Stadium on Sunday evening and reviewed the security arrangements.

Lahore Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Operations Rai Babar Saeed and Model Town SP Ijaz Rasheed briefed the CCPO about security measures devised by the police.

According to the security plan, at least 5,000 police officials under the supervision of 18 SPs, 31 DSPs, 76 sub-inspectors and 367 junior officers have been deployed to ensure safety of the event. As per details, a four-tier security plan has been prepared under which the participants will be checked at four points - frisking, metal detector, walkthrough gates and before entering the venue.

The venue is also protected through CCTV cameras including those of the Punjab Safe City Authority.

The venue was checked by sniffers dogs, Bomb Disposal Squad and Special Branch experts before start of the event.

Meanwhile, the CCPO, while referring to recent Pakistan Bangladesh T20 series, remarked that Lahore Police is committed to promoting international sports in the provincial capital. The DIG added that plans prepared for international events always kept in consideration that citizens did not have to suffer.
