MONTEREY:
Moto GP leader Casey Stoner will try to reprise his 2007 Laguna Seca victory tomorrow as his Honda team take their duel with Jorge Lorenzo’s Yamaha Stateside. Australia’s Stoner has twice earned pole and notched one victory and three podium finishes in five appearances at Laguna Seca, and his pole-winning lap in 2008 of one minute and 20.7 seconds remains the northern California circuit’s record. In 2007, Stoner piloted a Ducati to victory at Laguna Seca, while now the Ducati team’s fortunes are in the hands of Italian great Valentino Rossi and American Nicky Hayden.
