Women’s emancipation

Letter February 06, 2020
In Pakistan it is very difficult for working women to balance their professional and personal life

KARACHI: There two aspects in every human being’s life are: responsibility and rewards. Muslims are supposed to earn halal income and provide halal food, shelter clothing and other necessities to those that are dependent on them. It is also a duty to become a responsible citizen and pious a Muslim so that their dependants will become reason of their comfort in this world and becomes reason of reward in the afterlife.

On the other hand, God has granted superiority for the women as mother as she is responsible for taking care of their child. On an average men normally spend a maximum of 7 to 8 hours with kids while a mother spends the whole day. God will reward women twice in life for such superiority and if kids become pious Muslims, she will also be rewarded in the afterlife.

Assume if both a husband and a wife focus on any particular job or profession and spend 8 to 12 hours at any job, will the child not be affected? Professional babysitters and housekeepers will not take care of kids the way a mother does. In that case your kids may become educated. But feeling part of your kids will disappear eventually.

In all other matters, women and men are equal as they are entitled to the same food, shelter, and so called dreams. Even if women want to opt for some profession she has a right but her first priority should be to help her husband and their children’s upbringing. But in most cases, in Pakistan it is very difficult for working women to balance their professional and personal life.

I totally disagree with any type of discrimination against women, mostly observed due to lack of religious conviction and lust of worldly benefits. It is not acceptable and cannot be tolerated on any grounds.
