KBA expresses solidarity with Kashmir

India should call its armed forces back from Kashmir and end human rights violation: KBA

KARACHI: Karachi Bar Association (KBA) expressed solidarity with Kashmiris while demanding an end to the violation of human rights curfew in the Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK), during a ceremony at the Karachi City Court, held in observance of Kashmir Day, on Tuesday.

"We salute the courage of Kashmiris and we stand with them," said KBA's former president Advocate Naeem Qureshi. "As many as seven million Kashmiris are living under lockdown for the past 185 days and are deprived of basic facilities, but they will not lose courage and hope." He added that the ongoing curfew in the valley has increased the responsibility on the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. "A resolution should be sent to the lawyers' associations of all countries of the world including India [to resolve the issue]," he further said.

Advocate Muneer Ahmed Malik said that Kashmir was the jugular vein of Pakistan. "India claims to be the biggest democracy of the world, yet it is afraid of 80-year-old Syed Ali Gillani," he said. "India cannot occupy Kashmir for a single day if the Muslims across the world unite."

A resolution was presented during the ceremony by KBA, which said that India should call its armed forces back from Kashmir and end human rights violation.
