D I KHAN: Frontier Constabulary (FC) Inspector General (IG)-South Region Major-General Azhar Abbasi on Tuesday said that peace has been restored across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), especially in the merged districts through the sacrifices of the security forces and locals.

Maj Gen Abbasi said this while speaking to media in Dera Ismail Khan.

He added that militants have been striving to regain a foothold in the region by carrying out sporadic attacks on security forces and those who support the government’s initiatives, however, nobody can spoil the gains of the intensive military operations.

The FC chief said civil and development work under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CEPC) in K-P’s southern districts is underway while security forces have been providing adequate security to the CPEC projects. K-P will get its due share in the CPEC, he added.

“Once the Islamabad-DI Khan Motorway is completed, it will soon be extended up to the Zhob district in Balochistan and will be connected with the southern and northern areas of Balochistan, which will bring economic prosperity to these areas.”
