Residents run to express solidarity with Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Residents of the federal capital on Monday ran a marathon in the city to express their solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren who have been subjected to a brutal, five-month-long curfew in the disputed Himalayan of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK).

The marathon had been organised by the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) as part of events to commemorate the Kashmir Solidarity Day, scheduled for Wednesday, February 5.

A large number of people turned up to cheer for the runners, while the participating athletes, including professional racers, amateurs, youngsters and some elderly people seemed energetic.

The race began from Centaurus Mall and culminated at Faisal Mosque. Mehwish Khan won the race in the women’s category while Waqas Muhammad finished ahead of other male competitors.
