This has been proposed under the “New Glorious City Plan”. The plan will be a joint venture of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), the Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment Boards.
Under the new plan, a new food street comprising eateries of local cuisines will be set up before the arrival of Ramazan whereas all decrepit and historical buildings on Murree Road will be repaired and restored to their original condition.
Further, in a bid to bring uniformity, signboards of all shops on the road will be changed to a uniform size.
The PHA will identify buildings along the road which need to be restored or require repainting. The authority will offer to paint and restore the buildings for free.
