Interior ministry’s NOC awaited to fill staff positions at Capital Hospital

SAPM Awan gets a briefing on development work at G-7, G-8 underpass, Capital Hospital

ISLAMABAD: The matter of hiring the necessary staff for the Capital Hospital should be sent to the federal interior ministry for resolution.

This was stated by the Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Capital Development Authority (CDA) Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan on Friday as he inspected construction work on the additional block of the hospital.

He visited the site along with Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration and CDA Chairman Aamer Ali Ahmed.

Expressing his satisfaction over the pace of work, instructions were issued that the project should be completed within the given time frame. It was further informed that after completing excavation work for the basement, a grey structure measuring 150x50 has been constructed while its roof will be laid next week.

To address the issue of shortage of medical and paramedical staff at the Capital Hospital, CDA had requested for the issuance of a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the recruitment of staff which was sent to the interior ministry.

It was decided that the matter will be taken up with ministry for early issuance of the NOC so that the required staff can be inducted at the earliest.

The additional block will feature a five-storey building and will have the capacity to house 100 beds. Furthermore, intensive care units (ICUs), cardiac care units (CCUs) and a Cochlear Unit consisting of 10 beds will be established in this block.

Faisal Avenue underpass

The CDA has used a tree transplanter to relocate grown trees that would have otherwise been chopped down during construction of sectors G-7 and G-8 underpass on Faisal Avenue.

Officials of the authority said this while briefing Awan and Ahmed on Friday.

Awan and Ahmed inspected development works on different projects in the city. CDA member engineering and officers of other formations concerned were also present during the visits.

While inspecting construction work on the underpass at Faisal Avenue, Awan directed CDA departments and other concerned to further accelerate the pace of work to ensure timely completion of this project.

He said it should be ensured that people do not face difficulties due to construction activities on the project.

The SAPM suggested that one side of the bridge should be completed first so that traffic flow in the area can be maintained as work on the other side of the bridge is carried out.

In this connection, instructions were also issued that in coordination with the Islamabad Traffic Police, traffic diversion plan is implemented while signboards are put up to effectively guide traffic about diversions and blockages.

On this occasion, SAPM and CDA chairman were apprised that the latest tree transplanter was utilised for transplantation of grown trees. Now after completion of the transplantation process, construction work has gained momentum.

It was also informed that with the assistance of the Islamabad Traffic Police and CDA, an alternative traffic plan has been implemented to ensure smooth traffic flow in the vicinity.

Moreover, proper signboards and warning boards have also been installed in the vicinity. Instructions were also issued that the soil dug out as a result of excavation work on the project be utilised for levelling of the areas along the Kashmir Highway so that landscaping and tree plantation could be carried out in the areas as well.

CDA to plant trees along Kashmir Highway

A massive campaign has been started in the federal capital to prepare land along the Kashmir Highway for tree plantation. CDA through the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) and the ICTA is preparing both sides of the highway for the purpose.

The objective of this effort is to enhance the green character of the city, besides, to decorate this major highway aesthetically as fascinating landscaping would be also carried out at in addition to the plantation of trees, a CDA statement said on Friday.

CDA would use soil dug out from excavation on sectors G-7 and G-8 underpass to fill depression along the Kashmir Highway. CDA, ICTA and IMC are working together on this assignment at Kashmir Highway from GT Road intersection to Zero Point Interchange so that maximum trees could be planted in the areas along the Kashmir Highway.
