YouTube star Jason Ethier, who goes by the username ImJayStation, has come under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

Ethier claimed that his girlfriend who is also a fellow Youtuber named Alexia Marano had been killed by a drunk driver last week.

His video released on the social media platform titled “My girlfriend Alexia died” and “ Saying my last goodbye to my girlfriend Alexia (rest in peace)” and caused an instant spike in subscribers as planned.

Later in a bizarre new video, he tries to contact Marano’s spirit through an Ouija board.

However, the Canadian YouTube prankster admitted that his girlfriend was alive and well but she had ended her relationship with him.

“I want to start out by saying I’m sorry to Alexia’s family for putting them through any hard times or stress about the death of their daughter,” he said.

“I didn’t intend them to get any hate or put them through any emotional stress involving Alexia. I expected all of this to stay on YouTube and it didn’t.”

He goes on explaining that this was his attempt to boost his subscribers.

“I thought of the idea of faking Alexia’s death and then doing a thing on YouTube thanking everyone and explaining to everyone it was just to gain traction,” he said.

“So we were gonna say she died, then do an ouija board video, which we did do.

“Then we would resurrect her and get more followers. But now my girlfriend is gone and I’m in serious trouble.”
